An organisation which supports social ventures has awarded a £15,000 grant to PEGS.
UnLtd focuses on assisting organisations to deliver social change within communities – working alongside partners from both the public and private sectors to help harness the potential of social entrepreneurs and working towards solving society’s biggest challenges.
They’ve been running since 2002 and in the intervening two decades have handed out more than 20,000 awards of support and funding.
The money will be used to help us develop the training we provide to professionals working with families impacted by CPA, to deepen their knowledge around the topic and to enable them to respond efficiently, effectively and empathetically when a disclosure is made, as well as more easily identifying where CPA may be an issue within a household.
In order to secure the grant, PEGS was asked to describe the scale of the impact CPA has upon society – we highlighted the physical and mental health impact upon individuals and families, the number of people forced to leave their job or reduce their hours as a result of the behaviours they are experiencing, and the impact upon siblings, pets and other members of the household.
We also shared the impact on frontline professionals – including GPS, schools, the criminal justice system, social care teams, and police forces.
“Much like intimate partner domestic abuse was years ago, CPA is largely hidden and will continue to have a huge impact unless more is done to fund research, support services and professional training.”
