Child to Parent Abuse was the topic of social work charity Frontline’s most recent virtual coffee break event, featuring a leading campaigner.
Michelle John founded the charity PEGS after her own experience of CPA and now works tirelessly to train professionals about the subject, and support parents, carers and guardians who are affected. She was asked to give a presentation for the social work charity Frontline as part of its virtual Coffee Break series. Frontline creates social change for disadvantaged children through great social work practice and leadership.
As well as finding out more about CPA, those attending were able to ask questions of Michelle during the session – which was very well attended. A recording will also be available through Frontline for social workers who weren’t able to attend the live session. Michelle said: “It was fantastic to see so many people attending and asking questions – traditionally, some families experiencing CPA have struggled to access support from their local services, but we truly believe the tide is turning as so many more professionals are now becoming alert to what CPA is, how they can spot the signs, and how they can help families in need. By speaking at events, and hosting training for lots of organisations including social care teams, it means many more professionals will be equipped to deal with the challenge of support CPA families. This support is desperately needed for parents who often feel isolated, guilty and fearful.”
